The Nitro Live Icecreamery

After successful careers in board of director consultation and financial planning, Felicia and Rich Vandermolen were ready to retire and travel around America in their new motorhome. Their plans changed when Felicia took their grandson, Liam, for a treat at a local ice cream shop. He loved watching liquid nitrogen freeze the ice cream right before his eyes, and Felicia appreciated the store’s ability to accommodate a wide range of dietary restrictions, including her own.

Being a woman of action, Felicia decided to purchase the store and improve the concept; she and Rich put their motorhome tour plans on hold and set out to create a company that combined their business acumen and passion for making a difference in the community.

Felicia’s vision applies the science of liquid nitrogen to creating fresh, creamy, delicious ice cream tailored to customers’ needs and imaginations. Whether in its stores, extensive catering operation or conducting demonstrations at local schools, The Nitro Live Icecreamery’s dedicated team of nitrologists offers a fun, unforgettable WOW experience.

Community is very important to us and we are an active part of our community. We strive to use local suppliers for our ingredients and supplies; created a non-profit focusing on education, kids and women entrepreneurs; and work with local organizations to bring fun and science to those around us.

Our goal is to make every customer experience a fun, sincere, fabulous, exciting, safe and LIVE event that comes as close to perfect as possible.

3. Dietary Options

It is important to us to create a family friendly dessert location where everyone can get what they want as well as the dietary options they need. This is the sole reason that we provide seven different cream bases (Original; Low-Fat; No Sugar Added, Yogurt, Custard, Vegan and Sorbets).

4. Transparency

We go the extra mile for our customers by providing all the nutrition information for every product and the ability to watch how it is made every time. Transparency flows through to our business practices as well. Every crew member that joins our team can learn the ins and outs of how we run the business. We hope this will not only make them better employees when they find their “dream job” but also happier to be part of our team which comes through to the customer in the end.

We’ve all heard the phrase “pass the buck” but at The Nitro Live Icecreamery we prefer the phrase “the buck stops here”. Our corporate team owns the part we play in making sure every customer has a great experience, every supplier we use feels valued and important to our business and every franchise owner has the tools and information to make their store be a place people want to visit as well as be profitable.

6. Enviroment

We are proud of the fact that we have the smallest carbon footprint of ice cream shops out there. We don’t make any ice-cream until you order it, so we don’t need a lot of freezers to hold our product.

7. Education

Science is a big part of how we make our ice cream and having a curriculum developed by science teachers that meets state science standards is a way for us to educate our students and give them a fun treat at the same time.
